50th martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed being observed today

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed's (Nishan-e-Haider) martyrdom. He was born on April 4, 1938, in Dinga, a small town near Kharian Cantt.

Maj. Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider has been honoured by the Pakistan Army for his great sacrifice and bravery in the face of adversity.

The Hero of the Battle of Hilli during the 1971 War, according to a tweet from Director General Inter Services Public Relations, would be remembered for his resolve and fortitude in the face of adversity.

Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-sacrifice Haider's for the country is being honoured by Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain.

In a message commemorating Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed's 50th martyrdom anniversary on Sunday, he said that despite all odds, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed fought the enemy with courage and resolve in the 1971 war.

The Minister said great sacrifice of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed for the country and nation will always be remembered.

History

Major Muhammad Akram was born in Dingha, Gujrat District, on April 4, 1938. On October 13, 1963, he was commissioned into the 4th Frontier Force Regiment. During 1971, Major Muhammad Akram was in charge of a company in the Hilli district of East Pakistan's front area. When he and his soldiers were attacked by the enemy, they repelled every attack, inflicting severe fatalities on the enemy. Major Muhammad Akram led an anti-tank party that destroyed three enemy tanks. He was hit by fire in the chest during the battle and embraced martyrdom on December 5, 1971.
