Govt removes TLP's Saad Rizvi name from fourth schedule

On Thursday, the Punjab government removed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Saad Rizvi's name from the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

Saad Rizvi was added to the list based on "recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee, Lahore," according to the order.

However, after the federal government de-proscribed the TLP, Saad Rizvi's name was "removed from the list of the 4th Schedule… with immediate effect."

The federal cabinet annulled its earlier decision to declare the TLP a "proscribed" organisation under the country's anti-terrorism statute on Sunday after the TLP pledged to follow the country's Constitution and laws.

After the Punjab government requested that the "federal government may consider de-proscription of the TLP" in the "greater national interest and long-term perspective to guarantee that such incidents do not recur in the future," the cabinet supported the interior ministry's report.
