Karachi police officer arrested for killing college student in fake encounter

On Monday, a police officer was suspended for the alleged false encounter in Orangi Town in the seaside city that resulted in the death of a college student, Arsalan Mehsud.

According to local media reports, a case has been filed against the apprehended law enforcement employee named as Tauheed under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The cop was unable to persuade investigators of his purpose in the encounter with the boy, who was the son of a Karachi Dumpers Association office-bearer.

According to reports citing investigating sources, the police officer who opened fire was detained with a private hand weapon and was dressed in plain clothes when he opened fire.

Earlier, a police spokesman stated that a dacoit had been slain in an encounter with Orangi Town police and that his accomplice had escaped.

Haji Liaquat, the boy's father, and others of his family and community later arrived at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Outside the hospital, Arsalan's family and friends mounted a protest, claiming that he was killed in a fabricated incident. The dead was an intermediate student who had gone to tuition with a friend, according to the heartbroken father of a young son.

In response to the assassination of the young kid, the Senior Superintendent of Police has suspended SHO Orangi Azam.

In an interview with a local news station, DIG West Nasir Aftab acknowledged the formation of a three-member inquiry team consisting of SSP Central, SSP Investigation Central, and SP Gulberg to investigate an alleged police encounter.
