PSL 7 draft to be held in Lahore tomorrow

The much-anticipated seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 7) will begin next month, but fans must first wait for the tournament's draught, in which the teams will finalise their rosters.

On Sunday (tomorrow), at 3 p.m., the event will take place at the National High-Performance Centre. More than 425 players representing 32 countries have signed up for the draught.

Lahore Qalandars will receive the first pick in the Platinum Category, followed by Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators.

Each franchise can have up to 18 players, with three players from each of the Platinum, Diamond, and Gold categories, five from Silver, two from Emerging, and up to two from Supplementary.

The PCB has introduced the Right to Match Card for the 2022 event. This means that each team will have one of these cards to use during the draught to select a player who was previously released from their squad.

The PSL 2022 retention, trade, and release window concluded on Friday afternoon, with Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Peshawar Zalmi each retaining eight players, and Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators each retaining seven.

The tournament will begin on January 27 and will feature 34 matches in Karachi and Lahore. The first match will take place under the lights of National Stadium, between the Karachi Kings and the Multan Sultans.
