Czech model Tereza gets clean chit from Pakistani court in drugs case

LAHORE - Lahore High Court ordered the release of Czech model Tereza in heroin smuggling case.

After hearing the reasons in detail, a two-member LHC bench granted the Czech national's bail motion.

Tereza Hluskova, a professional model, was sentenced to more than eight years in prison in 2019 after being convicted of transporting narcotics. Her accomplice was released and she was fined Rs0.13 million.

On January 10, 2018, Tereza was apprehended by Customs agents at Lahore airport with nine kilogrammes of heroin. The 21-year-old was flying from Abu Dhabi to Ireland.

The Czech model appealed her sentence in the Lahore High Court on April 2, 2019.

Tereza had filed an appeal with the Lahore High Court, requesting that her sentence be overturned since it "negated the genuine facts of the case."

The model claimed that she was innocent, despite the fact that the trial court's verdict contradicted the facts.
