On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan lit the flame for the country's largest sports programme, Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive, at an outstanding ceremony at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad.
The ceremony drew a huge number of young people from all of the federating units.
Four projects totalling four billion rupees have been launched as part of the Drive to keep young people involved in extracurricular and sporting activities.
Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke at the event, saying that the talent search programme is aimed at preparing young people for international competitions. He stated that centres of excellence will be developed to polish Pakistani youth's great talent in several sectors.
A new sports policy has also been established, according to Imran Khan, in order to purge the existing system of mafias.
According to the Prime Minister, approximately 70% of the country's population is under the age of thirty, and it has been agreed to spread the network of grounds around the country. Each union council will have its own playground.
According to him, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has constructed 300 play grounds, while the Punjab government has established 260.
Imran Khan stated that the administration is also working to improve educational opportunities for the youth. He said that we had given out 47 billion rupees in scholarships to eligible pupils.
Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Fehmida Mirza said in her speech that the new sports strategy will be based on merit so that our gifted kids can have opportunity to boost the country's international image.
Usman Dar, Special Assistant on Youth Affairs, said the Prime Minister has granted one hundred billion rupees under the Kamyab Jawan Program to empower the youth and assist them start their own enterprises. He said that ten billion rupees had been set aside for skill development, and that two hundred thousand young people had benefited thus far.
Usman Dar stated his belief that the Kamyab Jawan Sports drive would bring true heroes in all sports to the fore.
In its initial phase, Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive includes 12 sports: hockey, cricket, football, handball, wrestling, weightlifting, squash, volleyball, ski, judo, boxing, and athletics.
Sports tournaments for young people aged 11 to 25, including women, will be hosted across the country as part of this initiative.
These events will take place in 25 locations around the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
These tournaments will choose ten million young people for world-class professional training.
