Sindh Bar Council secretary shot dead in Karachi

On Wednesday, two unidentified gunmen shot and killed Sindh Bar Council Secretary Irfan Ali Mehr outside his home in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighbourhood.

After dropping off his daughter at school, Mehr was attacked by a car as he returned home.

The masked men, who were riding a motorcycle, fired multiple bullets at the Mehr before fleeing.

The 45-year-old lawyer lived in Block 13 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the incident has also been acquired by police, and an inquiry has been initiated to find the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Karachi Bar Association has severely condemned the event, with its general secretary, Amir Nawaz Warraich, calling for the suspects to be arrested immediately.

In response, the association has planned a boycott of legal proceedings.
